CNC Programming Specialist
We are looking for someone who enjoys manufacturing high precision parts with CNC mills and lathes. The applicant should be able to read and understand a part print, with its associated dimensions and tolerances. An ideal applicant would understand how lathes and mills are used to manufacture parts, including cutting insert and holder types. We utilize GibbsCAM, AutoDesk 2D, AutoDesk Fusion 360, and programming scripts written in Python to produce consistent generation of G-Code programs. The day to day role of this position will primarily focus on the programming of various machines in our tooling division while also assisting in the operation and maintenance of the machines as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Create G-code programs for a CNC vertical machining center using CAM software or manually written, as needed
- Set-up and run parts in the CNC machining center
- Analyze part prints to determine the most efficient manufacturing processes
- Manage the inventory of tooling for your area and create a list of new tooling that may be needed
- Keep the machine clean and well maintained
- Work with our cutting tool and machine division to create parts of various size, shape, and application
- Create documentation for your area to assist others who may need to use the equipment
Qualifications:
- Education
- Associates degree ideal. Community College Certificates related to CNC programming and manufacturing accepted
- Trade School Certificates or Degree in related field
- Great attention to detail
- Can keep a work area organized and clean
- Able to use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, gauge blocks, and other inspection equipment
- Reliable transportation
- Works well with others as a team
- Algebra & Trigonometry knowledge
- Current or past programming language experience (C, Python, VB, Java, R, etc…) (Preferred)
- G-code programming experience: manually written programs
- CAM software generated G-code programs for a 3 axis and 4 axis mill and a 2 axis lathe
- Experience writing G-code programs manually
- Experience setting up and running a CNC vertical machining center
- Experience setting up and running a CNC lathe
