Community Engagement Intern (Littlefield Site)


Part-time & In-person 
Time Commitment: 10-15 hrs/week (or more if desired)
Must be available weekdays 11 am-2 pm or 3 pm-6 pm

Description: The Brilliant Detroit Community Engagement Intern will provide support educational programming and events at our Littlefield location (12789 Indiana Avenue, Detroit, MI 48231).
This will involve work in the fields of outreach and engagement, data management, communications, event and program facilitation, scheduling and logistical coordination, and moreWorking at Brilliant Detroit will offer the intern the opportunity to work in a small, evolving non-profit department.

Activities and Responsibilities: 
  • Help plan and facilitate our evidence-based community program offerings.
  • Support virtual or in-person programming and event logistics.
  • Schedule events and coordinate logistics as needed.
  • Capture and input key performance indicators into our database.
  • Conduct outreach efforts such as phone banking, canvassing, and tabling at community meetings if in person, or creating and posting digital content if working remotely to help promote events and programs.
  • Manage data and conduct intakes with families as needed.
  • Work with communications staff on newsletters and other communications mediums.
  • Participate in training and staff development as required.
  • Coordinate with staff, vendors, partners, and other stakeholders as needed. 
  • Work with the Community Engagement Department to meet organizational needs and priorities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong critical and creative thinking skills.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace applications, especially Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
