Program Staff & Interns Summer 2023 - Camp Michigania, Alumni Association of the University of Michigan
About Camp Michigania:
Camp Michigania is the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan’s family camp located on Walloon Lake in Boyne City, MI. Encompassing 400+ acres and almost 1.5 miles of shoreline, Michigania provides a summer camp experience to over 400 campers per week for 11 one-week sessions. Function and Responsibility:
- To provide exemplary customer service for University of Michigan alumni families. Staff members are hired to work in a specific program area and share responsibilities for the effective functioning of the Camp as a whole.
- This is a seasonal summer camp position.
- Staff work daytime and some evening programming six days per week, and are expected to be a role model 24 hours per day.
- Base pay $3,000.00 for the summer. Additional pay for specific roles and positions.
- Room and board included.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate safe and engaging programming for Michigania guests.
- Utilize camp resources, individual skills and creativity to provide unique experiences for guests.
- Teach and train guests to use and enjoy camp equipment and program areas.
- Assist guests, administration and other staff members in any necessary tasks to ensure guest safety and enjoyment.
- Be responsible for the proper use, management and maintenance of camp equipment, locations, and resources.
Requirements for Employment:
- All hired staff members must be at least 19 years of age or have completed their first year of college when summer starts.
- All first year staff members must be able to stay for the entire contract period (see dates below) to be considered in the first round of hiring.
- All hired staff must be CPR/AED and first-aid certified prior to the start of the contract. (Specific areas may require other specialty certifications)
- All hired staff must commit to training requirements prior to the summer, during the winter and spring semesters.
- Previous experience working at a children’s camp is preferred, but not required.
2023 Important Dates:
Our employment application is open on a rolling basis year-round. Priority consideration will be given to candidates who apply by Jan. 31st, 2023. Offers for priority consideration candidates will go out on or before March 1, 2023. All other candidates will be considered on a rolling basis.
Summer 2023 dates of employment (subject to change):
- Area Leadership Staff: May 22 - August 26, 2023
- Ropes, Riding, Riflery, Boating Staff: May 26 - August 26, 2023
- All other program area staff: May 30 - August 26, 2023
