Medical Laboratory Scientist
Responsibilities
- Responsibilities include performing waived, moderate, and high complexity patient testing and quality control using automated and manual methods and following Michigan Medicine policies and procedures.

- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, organize and prioritize work, and exercise initiative in recognizing and solving problems.
- Provide safe, patient-focused care and excellent customer service.
- Requires bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or biological science or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated successful clinical experience, and certification, or eligibility for certification, by a nationally recognized agency such as ASCP or AMT.
Required Qualifications*
In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
- BS, MLS with ASCP certification or eligible or a BS in a related science field. Must have previous experience and be highly proficient with a variety of molecular techniques.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Works with infectious disease and/or hazardous materials.
- May have exposure to noise from laboratory equipment and pneumatic tube system.
- Requires frequent (standing/walking/sitting/hand pipetting) for long periods of time and the ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
